I thought about putting wheels on the deck. But unless you put the wheels under the middle of the deck the back of the trailer still hauls half the load on the deck.
And the wheels would have to be pretty small to actually fit under the deck. I also worry about them castering properly when towing at speed.
And the back of the trailer goes up and down a lot vertically going in and out of service stations, etc. The slope of a short wheelbase trailer would be pretty extreme at times.
I'm hoping to make my deck fold up, so it doesn't make the trailer longer when parked. Adding wheels would pretty much nix that idea.
I think I'd still need to beef up the trailer frame to use a wheeled deck. If I did put wheels under the deck, I'd like to tie the two wheels together with a tie rod so they wouldn't shimmy.
And I wonder if some cop wouldn't stop me and claim I was pulling double trainers. Especially if it coupled to the 5th wheel with a hitch receiver.
I'd rather just strengthen the frame to hold the load.
