You're comparing 3 rigs that fall under the Thor Industries umbrella to a Grand Design.

There is nothing special about any of the 4 that would guarantee you better build quality. Look at the individual unit you intend to buy as the one that pops out the factory door at 9 AM could be perfect, and the next 3 junk with any of them.

Grand Design has better communication and support after the sale, or so they claim, and owners and their forums also seem to indicate this but at the same time they use no better methods or materials than the others. Toy Haulers are the lowest volume seller other than popups and most are built in the same factory, on the same line, by the same workers with the same garbage as the manufacturers other products such as TTs or 5ers.

This entire industry is racing to the next economic downturn at lightspeed and quality of the product or customer satisfaction is not high on the corporate priority list with any of them. The focus is pulling in as much profit as possible before the sheet hits the fan and the whole thing implodes, which it has often, always does, and will again. Theyre on borrowed time in that regard.

Find one on a dealers lot you like and inspect thoroughly. Whatever you do shy away from ordering one. You never know what you'll get.

IMHO, research the "dealer" as much as the "manufacturer", if not more. I believe most new RV's in the price range you may be looking, have about the same level of reliability. The real test is service after the sale. How soon can you get in should you need repairs. We have two GD dealers here and it is a two month schedule for service. I find that totally unacceptable. Also, if possible, tour the assembly plant before you buy, most are made in Amish country. They may be good at woodworking, but routing electrical wires, not so much.

A farce. Some may be good at woodworking, and some even more so when doing woodworking for the "Amish". Its an entire different thing when doing woodworking for the "English". The Amish in the Indiana factories are there for one reason and one reason only, and that is to get a paycheck. That paycheck is based on how many pieces of **** they can slap in or together in X amount of time, not the level of craftsmanship.

Slapping together plywood and vinyl wrapped fiberboard hardly qualifies as woodworking regardless. When RV manufacturers say "wood cabinetry" thats only the doors themselves.

Some of the largest hack jobs I have ever seen in 30+ years being involved in construction have been done by fine Amish craftsman. Plumb, level, and square does not exist in their dictionary.

Customer has a 2016 fuzion getting a new roof through insurance because the factory denied the claim..( roof membraine released at the nose the front ac tore it decking went soft rotten around the ac )

No guarantees on any brand. Some may be designed better but it seems to be the actual execution of the build that matters.
Just look around at the number of major issues with DRV models costing much more than most brands. One recent thread about terrible factory support, too.
So like the above post, go with what you like from a company that backs their product and buy from a reputable dealer that has a good relationship with the factory.

They max exhibit 'craftsmanship' in their quaint little home shops where they sell their stuff to Gentiles at inflated prices...lol But, in an RV plat. they exhibit minimal craftsmen skills. Like Ralph states, just a paycheck.

I second this also. We have a Forest River fifth wheel that was replaced due to some delamination issues. Our dealer was awesome in the whole process.

I completely disagree!! We had a '08 Jayco and loved it, but needed a bunkhouse model. At that time, Jayco didn't put a king bed in their bunkhouse model, so we went with a Sierra by Forest River. First trip out, we noticed the quality of the Jayco was just not there in the Sierra, We kept that Sierra for nearly 10 yrs!! It was a great unit, just not the quality of the Jayco. We just traded it in on a new Jayco Pinnacle 38REFS, and immediately noticed the improved quality. Check out the attention to detail and quality of materials of the Jayco and I think you will see the difference too.
