Please relying on your experience and expertise to get this right without going to extreme. As you are aware it is important to get this right the first time, driving the rig onto a scales unfortunately is after the fact not a good thing.

Another fan of the 1 ton DRW for towing big.
My opinion the DRW's with weight stick a little better on curves.
Lose a rear tire, then it's possible to slow down and hunt for a safer place to stop...
...and of the course the weight handling would be no problem.
The wide butt can be problematic, yet I've never seen this as a downer.
