I have the ExtremeAir Compressor mounted under the truck bed with pressure tank, pressure switch, air hose quick disconnect at the rear of the truck.

It has no problem inflating tires, and the pressure switch starts the compressor at 90psi, and shuts off at 125psi.

I use a DEWALT DWFP55126 6-Gallon 165 PSI Pancake Compressor. It is fairly light and stows easily. I found many uses for it while camping besides blowing out the water lines. Handy around the house too.

I went with a 6 gallon 150/PSI Porter Cable compressor,it rides in the front storage compartment next to the generator.The compressor cuts off at 150 psi and will inflate an LT 235/85R/16 tire rapidly.

The Duro Max XP4400E generator powers the compressor with ease... no problems at all.I also keep 50 feet of air hose and various air chucks and attachments for any situation.

Never had any success with 12V compressors until I bought a Viair 400P. Takes less than 3 minutes to inflate one of my truck tires from 50 to 80 PSI. A bit pricey but well worth it IMO. I don't find the 33% duty cycle an issue at all when travelling. I have a Makita tank compressor at home.

A compressor is well worth having. Like many, I bought a small 1.5gal/135psi from a big box store. It takes time but works fine on 85psi tires, the hitch airbag, blowing dust from place to place in the basement & is a great tool for getting stubborn campfires going. No more huffing & puffing till you get a headache or flapping whatever is handy to give the fire air.

I own a Viar 450, great quality compressor, thought I would save money and go the Harbor Freight route, it did not last long. I mounted mine under the truck by the running board and installed a 2.5 gallon tank with an air chuck by the running board. You must use a pressure switch with them. Being an impatient person, I bought a set of regulator gauges and a 5# CO2 tank, lightening fast and has an adequate air supply.
All small compressors are a bit slow for me, especially if you are dealing with multiple tires.
The Viair keeps a supply of air in the lines for my air horns. You just can't go wrong with a Viair, quality product.

For a 12V pump, Viars are some of the best for the money. My exhaust brake has used one for about 60K miles and has held up perfectly.

I have two compressors. A 2 gallon shop compressor with a built in regulator for normal jobs and Slime-Heavy Duty Portable 12 Volt Tire Inflator with Built-in Gauge and Light I carry in my truck for little jobs (air bags on truck and hitch) and emergencies. Takes a couple of minutes but good to 150#. Since I need 80# it works pretty good.

X2. I don't carry a generator so I need a 12v unit.

I have the same as mentioned before- a Porter Cable 3 gallon compressor. It fits in my front basement storage. I expect to inky be able to use it when I have shore power as I don't carry a generator.

I really want to mount/install a Viair system but just can't justify the cost.
