I know you said you can't take it anywhere, but if you could, take it to Shipshewana, Indiana, to National Refrigeration. Leon is a young Amish man who works on RV refrigerators and A/C's. I guarantee he will accurately diagnose the problem and fix it. He charges $80/hr, but if he doesn't work an hour, he prorates it.
