The OP already did that. "I removed the trim around the vent in the bedroom and cannot find any wiring there." He did not indicate that there was a junction box near the ceiling opening.

We bought a 2005 Alfa for our lot in Palm Springs. Due to the heat, I wanted another AC; this one for the bedroom. When they went to install it, the wiring was there in the overhead vent but no power. The RV shop traced the wiring through the walls and found that it stopped in the wall. They cut the wall open behind a picture, fished a new wire from the fusebox to the cut end and Voila, AC. 150 labor.

111 today. I am SOOOOOO glad I got the second AC.

"Sold as an Option" usually means that it is an available option at time of ordering/manufacture, not necessarily "Prewired for a Second A/C", which is usually the phrasing indicating that the trailer comes already prepped for the installation of a second A/C regardless of whether it is ordered with one or not.

My guess is that it is not "prewired" or "prepped", but, at the time of purchase could have been ordered with one installed by the factory as it was being made.

My Keystone Cougar was "prewired" and it was a simple job of having the dealer install a second A/C and connect the wires. Any trailer can have a second unit installed, but in most, it involves additional roof bracing, pulling the wires, adding the breaker, etc. and would be much more expensive (labor) than adding the A/C to a "prepped" unit.

Before you give up, call the factory and ask them. They should know better than anyone else. Give them the VIN and ask. Worse they can tell you is to talk to a dead telephone line! They should know and be able to tell you where to look.

Thanks everyone for your ideas and thoughts on this. While I would like a second unit in the bedroom I don't feel the added expense of getting it wired for the unit would justify my purchase. I will instead save the funds and upgrade the ducted unit when the time comes. It has worked well and kept the unit cool but we would have liked to have just a bit better cooling capacity plus the comfort of a second unit if one happened to fail unexpectedly.

Either the wires are behind the panel cover or they are not!

Sorry, but I ordered a Carriage Cameo with prep for the second AC and it has the support framing in the ceiling, wire from the panel to a junction box at the ceiling framing and the necessary breaker. My previous Arctic Fox was the same.

My first 2 5ers were both wired for a 2nd unit. They both had a covered outlet box a few inches away from the stock vent. Both already had the breakers wired into the breaker panel.

Pull the electrical panel cover and see if there is an extra set of wires tucked inside. That way you know for a fact.

I, too, have a receptacle just a few inches from the vent in the ceiling. I bought the option.

I wouldn't let that stop me if a 2nd unit is important to you. An extension cord stretched across the ceiling to some logical point above an outlet on the wall isn't going to be that big a deal, or maybe plastic conduit or some such.
