I chose the Hensley BD3 hitch simply because as long as I'm towing a 5'er I'll have the hitch. I won't need to remove it to the next fiver since it stays with the truck. Granted I may have to move it to the next truck but that's a fact with any hitch.
Sure you could swap an air ride pinbox but it gets more complicated than just keeping my same hitch.
As to performance I'm don't believe one is clearly more effective than the other
