Air ride suspension

I have both Trail Air Tri Glide and Center Point Suspensions. I feel it is worth it as the combination drastically reduces the stresses the trailer frame gets from the roads. Lower stresses from the roads, longer lasting frames in my book. Most railroad tracks are not felt at low speeds, the truck feels them, the trailer doesn't. At parking lot speeds speedbumps feel like hard wind gusts from behind. I out onboard air on the trailer, and have an air fitting with an air chuck on a whip to top off the centerpoint, and I plumbed the trailair into the onboard air with a fill and dump valve. I can do everything standing in one place as far as filling air. The onboard air also fills tires, and pool toys.

I've logged a couple of thousand miles towing with the Center Point. It definitely improves the ride in the truck and trailer. Very pleased.

I ordered from Lippert and had my mobile RV tech installed it. I already had a Trail Air king pin hitch, but the Center Point really smoothed out the ride. Nothing moves in transit. Before the air bags stuff walked around. It claims to eliminate 95% of the road shock transmitted from the road into the coach. Based on what I've seen its believable.

If it spares one piece if electronics or keeps the structure a bit sounder then its worth the expense if you plan on keeping the trailer. If you trade often you might save your money.

Transamz9, I did not take any pictures but there is a couple of You Tube videos that shows how it works. Just google Center Point suspension. I should have qualified my statement by saying the time it took for the install was just for the air bags themselves. I piddled with the air lines off and on for a while. The system comes with a single fill valve and gauge so both sides would be at the same pressure. I was pretty sure my Excel was not the same weight on both sides so I bought an extra fill valve and gauge so I could plumb each side separately. I understand TrailAir (owned by Lippert) has or will change to an individual system.

We sold our truck a few weeks ago and are still waiting on the new one. I won't be able to say much till we take a trip with it. I did do a short test run before I sold our truck and I felt I could tell a difference but a longer tow will tell me more.

I have both Trail Air and Center Point and really love them, I watch my fiver while I'm towing it float down the road and I believe that that cushioning of air reduces the wear-and-tear on my fiver,it's components and contents increasing the life span of my rig. If you go this route I strongly suggest you make a cover for the Trail air(simply a bag that sleeves over the pin-box with a bungee chord around the opening sorta' like a long sack)to keep the sun off the air spring much like you cover your tires.

The install was not all that difficult with some basic tools. I do have an air impact wrench which speeded things up. A friend helped me. We started a 9 am and finished before lunch.

When i was looking i seem to remember maybe 400 a pair went with the ezflex for about half that no air bags to worry about. Did the install myself including wet bolt kit over the course of two eveings alone with no problems. But being a saw mill equipment mechanic by trade i have the tools and equipment to do the job. Maybe you dont and have to hire the work out. I dont know, but like i said, maybe 4 hours total labor, so thats 400 dollars labor plus your 700 parts and that is still only 1100 dollars total even at a dealerships inflated prices. Call lippert and see what they would charge you for parts included a wet bolt kit before you jump on it. While your at it price out the ezflex parts and then decide for yourself if air bags are really worth the additional cost.

We looked at it but I did not see the value for the price. Went with ez flex and a fifth airborne pin box; trailer tows great.

Only price I've seen was about 700 each side for the air bag, seems like RV shops are 100 per hour and I guessed a little high. You have a better guess donn?
