Alanta, Ga

I failed to post and get the good advice given! Went thru Atlanta on 285, closed right 3 lanes for construction, leaving left two lanes with the far left lane an exit only! One lane, no construction just baricades and a BIG mess! If you go thru on I-75, watch further south for more constuction I guess they are patching potholes and want to really slow the traffic down!

We just went through east to west one week ago. It was about 10:30 am. It was I-85 going in and I-20 coming out. Traffic was a mess leading into the city, but as we got closer it dissipated and once we got into the city it all but disappeared. I was amazed. Smoothest trip through Atlanta we ever made. Going out was good.

We always go downtown. But we stay in the left lanes. They are marked I75 and I85. Pick the middle of the 3 lanes and stay there.

Straight through. DO NOT take the "Watermelon 500" (I-285) route!

Sometimes go to see friends in Anderson, SC. Have gone through Atlanta a few times. I compare the driving styles and traffic similar to Houston with the exception of Atlanta having narrower lanes. Like others have said, drive straight through.

Like everyone else as said, I go straight through Atlanta. I time my trip not hit Atlanta during rush hours.

We always try to hit Altanta between midnight and 4 am in the morning when we are towing our 5th wheel. We go straight thru the center of town. When going north it seems like the right lane north of downtown is always disappearing and we are constantly changing lanes to the left. No matter what time of the day or night 75 is always white knuckle driving .......No matter how fast you drive in either an rv or a car there is always plenty of people wanting to drive faster.....

As a life long resident of GA, the above posts are correct. Go straight through. Don't even think about 285 as it is nothing but a racetrack and death trap. I would only use it during rush hours as the downtown gets bogged badly. Have a safe trip!
