Alpenlite 29RK Riveria question

We purchased a 1998 29 RK Alpenlite Riveria about 2 weeks ago. We found 2 openings on the underbelly that looks like where access doors to the sewer pipes once were. Also, there are 2 small holes in floor vent in living room that you can see all the way to the ground when you look down from the inside of camper. Is that so heat from furnace will heat where water lines run in the underbelly? Never seen this in a camper before. CD player is going to have to be replaced--anyone replaced it in their camper and if so, what kind of system did you install so CD's would come out of camper speakers? Would love to hear from other Alpenlite owners.

  • First, there is an Alpenlite Travel club on Facebook. The tubes in your heater duct are to heat the basement. BUT, mice can crawl through them so they need to be screened. Using a mirror, I found many of those vents that could not be accessed without cutting holes in the floor or dropping the entire basement. Rustoleum has a spray undercoat product that is good for resealing those access panels on the basement.
  • I am sure this has been answered by now. Anyway, the two holes are for air to circulate through the belly to keep everything from freezing. I stuck steel wool in mine to keep critters out of the duct work. The panels on the bottom need to be re-done. Most RV stores have the corrugated plastic stuff you can cut, screw and then caulk to seal the bottom. I bought a Onkyo Stereo receiver to replace the stock unit. I can then run the DVD,Tape and VHS palyers through it. The 29RK has 6 speakers and they are not surround but rather stereo. Mine sounds extremely good however.
  • We installed a 12 volt car cd player and radio. 12 volt was aready in the stero cabinet. no idea about your other questions.

  • Sounds to me like a PO drilled a bunch of holes in the floor for who knows what. Possibly someone added a how water radiator in the heater ducts?
