after 30 yrs of Americas Tire, I am getting concerned.took TT in before trip to rotate tires, and was told they usually don't do that. they did reluctantly. took TT in before another trip and had them check and set to 80 lbs. as my wife was backing me up, she stopped me and said the tires don't look good. instead of 80, they were at 32. my 2009 GMC came with 20", I replaced them with 17 E from Americas. took truck in the other day for rotate. rotated and set to 32. was told that is what is on the door, the do not look at the tires, really? now they closed 1 of the stores in Stockton, some lame excuse, when you go in now, always a long wait. make an appointment. since I now spend a lot of time in Oregon, thinking might look at Schwab.

I would recommend Discount Tire for Schwab. The business went down-hill when Les retired.On same-tires Discount bets Schwab

I always tell the tire guys what I want the tires on my truck set to. 70 psi front, 80 psi rear. I carry a camper on the truck and want the rear at max pressure.This way you get what you want (maybe).

I'm not defending them, but unless you are specific about what you want the pressure set at, most tire stores will use the tire placard on the vehicle.

I do it myself folks. A decent compressor with good volume and high pressure is not expensive and you can check your tires when every you want and not drag it to a tire shop. I, too, became tired of the tire shops telling me what the tire should be when right on the tire is max pressure for max load and I am pushing that number in weight. Same with the truck, door jam is unloaded pressure, to make the truck ride better. Pump up to max pressure when pulling and you will love your truck and your camper.

The problem has to do with the liability insurance carrier America's/Discount Tires use. I've run into the same two restrictions...pressure as show on the door sticker and no TT because they are not allowed to use a jack to raise a vehicle (only the lifts).

I actually had to sign a waiver to get them to put the pressure I wanted in the tires on my daily driver.

I was finally able to get the tires on my 5th wheel taken care of by jacking it up myself and taking off each wheel.

The thing about Schwabs is they are requring you to pay for their business. They have gotten incredibly expensive lately. After many years of buying tires from them I went with BigO for the wife's car. LS wanted over 1K for 4 and BigO was 615 for similar tires

I think 1/2 tons may give a lower door tire pressure, due to improve ride quality.
