- laknoxNomadSimply amazing... How many different guys on the line worked on that unit, and NONE caught it...or were afraid to point it out.

What bothers me more then anything is that a unit could get past the FACTORY quality control people. Or maybe they don't exist ?
It didn't.........
You see Factory relies on Dealers to be their quality control.
In this RARE incident Dealer actually caught the problem before the REAL quality control inspector did (the new owner) - GoPackGoExplorerWhat bothers me more then anything is that a unit could get past the FACTORY quality control people. Or maybe they don't exist ?

The way rv furnace operate probably wasn't a real health issue.......with high exhaust pressure furnaces probably failed to ignite
Most likely came to Forest River's attention due to owner complaints to dealers...."Hey my furnace won't lite, doesn't run"
huh?
are you thinking they mounted the furnace up to the exterior wall, but didn't cut in the vent? Maybe that would do what you are saying, but otherwise if it had enough room to exhaust inside its a HUGE health issue - more like death issue.
Exactly what happened.
Dealer caught it.
No Furnace vent on exterior wall (inlet/exhaust).
Thought furnace hadn't been installed. Removed return air vent and there was a furnace BUT vent assembly in exterior wall had not been cut-out/installed.
One (1) affected unit but 200 on recall.
Furnace wasn't operated BUT odds are it would NOT have functioned it attempts had been made.
Insufficient combustion intake air/high exhaust air pressure---no main flame and IF it did lite off......High Temp Switch would have tripped it due to High Heat Exchanger Temps due to obstructed air flow.
RV Furnaces have a very narrow air/fuel ratio.
Blocked duct work can cause shut down/not operate
Blocked return can cause shut down/not operate
Blocked combustion/exhaust etc.
Loose air wheel etc.
Low motor speed etc.
Fact is-----It's a wonder they work :B
Ah, I didn't catch that. - Old-BiscuitExplorer III

A factory rep posted about this on the Forest River Forums that so far they've found exactly 1 instance of this (the one that caused the recall). But it was scary enough that it prompted the recall (my commentary- the fact that FR is facing fines for not properly reporting recalls was likely part of it). - Mile_HighExplorerKind of sad when we all want to buy American, but then you buy an RV and start to change your mind :)
Not a China fan, but even the stuff coming out of Mexico and Canada seems to be an upgrade. - Mile_HighExplorer

Lets face it 1/2 or more of the long time posters on here could do better quality control than those that make them.
While that may be true it is also true that they, as do many RV buyers, purchase the poor quality RV's being discussed here. As someone mentioned earlier, if buyers didn't buy poor quality products the builders would have to respond with better products. But prices go up and buyers complain or look for cheaper products. - goducks10ExplorerWe don't need no import car makers to start making RV's to shake up the current butchers in the U.S. The U.S car makers are making some great cars and trucks as well. What we need is more oversight or regulations like the auto industry has. The c$$$p that's being built is a scam. RV manufactures need to be held accountable. Their needs to be Lemon Laws for them just like autos. It reminds me of the old real estate term "Curb Appeal. Everything looks real good on the outside but when you start digging inside it's a joke.
