The following has "been said before" - and easily researched on Google. Lots of horror stories - and dealers were of no help, as they said there were no recalls.
Toyota paid a $1.2 BILLION settlement to the Justice dept due to the 31 accidents and 12 deaths - including a CA CHP officer and his family - caused by the faulty accelerator pedal (which would stick open).
Toyota knew of the problem, but tried to blame it on floor mats.
Still facing approx 300 lawsuits.
Maybe there's some other foreign car manufacturer, huh.
