Andersen hitch question

I'm considering switching hitches to the Andersen.

I read in the docs that the hitch can jam if the truck/trailer are out of level, compared to each other.

So the question is, how sensitive is this hitch to "off-level" situations.

In the summer we spend a few weekend boon-docked on some fairly uneven ground, I usually don't need to disconnect for those weekends, but....

The current hitch weight is way more then I can remove, without using the king-pin on the trailer, when spending (sometimes) a lot of time getting things square so I can put it back in.

  • As I understand your concern its relative to being able to line up on uneven ground sufficient to get the kingpin adapter hole to drop onto the Andersen ball in the truck bed. Fear no more! Andersen now offers their patented funnel adapter for the Ultimate hitch (for new owners it's free and included, current owners can get the funnel adapter for cost $33). The funnel let's your alignment be off by as much as 3" and still have the king pin slide on.

Hmmm. I never had a problem. But if you are far off any hitch will have a problem. Imagine being '**** eyed' with a standard 5th wheel plate. Same thing. Use you best judgement on what works for you.
