Scott_85,
Why did you elect to install the pin coupler with the ball opening behind the king pin? I know it can be installed in front of or behind the king pin, but with your short bed I would have thought you'd want the extra cab clearance by positioning the ball opening to the front.
Someone seemed concerned about pranksters pulling the lock handle. For me, I never, ever move the trailer without first doing a walk-around. Even after a quick rest area stop. While approaching the truck/trailer I begin doing a visual check. Then when close enough, I check the lock handle. I've done this routine for over 20 years of pulling rvs. A thorough "preflight" is second nature.
I can't see the ball from the driver's seat since my bed cover is in the way when folded forward. I line up using the rear cab camera that came with my Ram. I also have a wireless camera mounted on the hitch that lets me know when the ball is positioned precisely under the adapter. How well does this work? I get hooked up in no more time than it took me with traditional 5th wheel hitches.
I've been towing a lot with the Andersen. Completely quiet with absolutely no bucking or chucking. Nice, smooth ride.
