Andersen Ultimate Fifth Wheel Connection

My plan is to use a drop 'n' lock under-bed gooseneck hitch and the Andersen ultimate fifth wheel connection.

I like both of these units because the are simple, very few moving parts. And according to Andersen the Ultimate Fifth Wheel hitch has a crush failure rate of over 60,000 lbs.

Any RV.net users out there running this hitch? Have you been pleased with the Andersen so far? Any faults that you can find?

Thanks!

Jeremiah
  • Thank you both! I am pretty much convinced that my fiver will use an Andersen to pull it with. I don't have rails in my truck or a gooseneck hitch right now. I just can't see losing my flat bed floor. Which is why I want a turn over ball type hitch.

I like the drop 'n' lock gooseneck hitch. I also see that the Blue Ox can be unlocked and turned over from inside the bed.

    Thanks!

  • used it last summer to pull our '93 Tavelaire TW300 #10,500. Never had a problem with it, in fact it was quieter and smoother than our reg 5th wheel double pivot hitch.
We ended up buying the Andersen when I discovered my old '92 Dodge needed front axle u-joints, seized due to lack of use, and didn't have time to fix before vacation.
My buddy offered the use of his '05 Dodge, but it had a turn-over ball in the bed, so I went in search of options, I did not like the Gooseneck style adapters that bolt to the kingpin as they appear to add more of a lever causing stress in the 5ver frame.
I must say I was quite impressed with the Ultimate hitch set up and I am considering using it in my next tow vehicle.

    Cheers
