When I had my 2012 Ram I mounted the plug up front just slightly ahead of the wheel well, it was ok there but had to climb on tire to get it plugged in. On my 15 Ram I had the 5th wheel prep with it and the plug is mounted just ahead of rear post behind the wheel well as seen in Cummins12V98's post, much easier to get to and out of the way. When I bought my Reese hitch for my 2012 it came with an adapter harness that's plug and play from the rear wire harness ahead of the actual plug so you'd still have bumper plug to wherever you wish to mount the new plug.
