So I have been looking at toy haulers and have my eye set on the new fuzion 385. I really like the center island, second bathroom, larger garage- pretty much the whole layout. The question i have is will it be pushing the limits of my truck? I have a 2015 (4x4)denali hd, 6.6 duramax 2500.... I will also be leveling the front and putting 35s on the truck, not sure how that will effect the towing, if at all. The trailer gvwr is 17000 with payload of 3030. This will be my first time buying a trailer and i would like it to be a good experience with no regrets about getting too big or too heavy of a trailer. Will also be for a 2 seat xp900. Thanks for any input.

Your payload is irrelevant - GVWR (or even better, actual gross vehicle weight) is what matters.Big tires and jacking the suspension will not help your towing.Trade the truck on a bigger one, or buy a smaller toyhauler.

I've got 3,500 pounds on the pin. Your TH may be similar in weight. Can your 2500 handle 3,500 pounds on the hitch? 3,000 pounds? Nobody's going to stop you but I wouldn't do it.

Also by installing taller tires on your truck your gear ratio is knocked down some also making it pull a little harder. Weigh your truck full of fuel and then see what the difference is from that to your max loaded weight for your truck, that figure minus weight of how many people on board will tell aprox how much pin weight you can have.

Well- good job guys, you broke my heart??... Haha. And dually is out of the question due my narrow driveway and not really ideal for Los Angeles and I barely bought the truck I have now (7,000 miles).

I would consider staying within your limits and go smaller. We have a 19' toy hauler pulling it with a 07 2500 LBZ and we have a 2014 RZR 800 4. We can pretty much book any campsites at all the National parks and state parks with out worrying about size limits. We also entertain at the local beaches a lot with friends and family coming over and numerous beach parties. We are the smallest out of all of our friends and we been to the most places (and have the best parties) they can't go to due to size and traveled the furthest and we still have the RZR to cruise the trails with everyone.

Friend of mine has a keystone impact travel trailer toy hauler, 12' garage and very similar inside to mine just a tad shorter as it is a total length of 33'. He tows with a GMC 2500 gasser, which handles the load well.

Keep in mind that 2nd bathroom cuts into your garage space. So they say it's a 13' garage, but it's more like 10-11' if you need the whole width. Still OK for your 900 but not OK if you want to move up to a 4.

We've been looking at Keystone Impact 5th wheels as well. They're not quite as fancy as the Fuzions, but still pretty nice, and lighter weight since they don't have all the fancy stuff :) Forest River XLR Nitro has some nice floor plans too, and good garage sizes, without getting into "monster" size (ie over 40 feet). Worth a look for sure.

I would put your family and gear, hitch, everything ready to camp and hit a scale to compare to your GVW, which should be 9,900. My GVW is 9,200 on my 08 and with all our gear and family, I only have 1,600 pounds of payload. I had 2,300 pounds of rock in it a few months ago and I wouldn't want to pull a camper with that heavy of pin weight more than a few miles.

That high of a pin weight really needs a 1 ton at a minimum.

And if you are going with 35s, you are going to need to flip the axles on your fifth wheel too or it will ride nose high.

You think just from putting the 35's with no lift in the rear, I will need to flip the axles? And does anything you put in the trailer affect the payload? Just what you put in front of the axles would be my guess...

Yeah- I've been seeing that... A lot of 25' limits on the state parks along the beaches. But most of my outtings will be to the open desert and dunes but I will be doing a few state beaches in between. Thanks for the advice...

Don't give up that easy!!!! I am a firm believer there is a setup out there for everyone. I would look at the Stealth series from forest river, they have a couple lighter fifth wheels. And who knows, you might be fine on pin weight, I'd go to the local dump or place that sells rock that has a scale and get it weighed. Then you know for sure what your can buy.

On the 35s, I know my buddy had to flip his. I'm not sure, again, something else to keep in mind when you go to buy the trailer. I could be wrong on that, others might want to chime in.

For pin weight on that big of a trailer, nothing really effects it. From what I have read, you put a RZR in the back, and the effect on pin weight is not much. And you can't really load much in the front anyway.

I'd keep looking at the fusion too, just make sure you get things measured up with weights before you buy.
