The vast majority of drops are the result of high pins and most folks say they weren't pinned.
After investigating the top of the hitch jaws and the bottom of the pin flange its evident the pin was on top of the jaws.
Any 5th wheel hitch brand or jaw type can be hi pinned...even a pro grade big rig SAF-Holland. It happens.
With the thicker jaws as you mention and the 1" thick B&W jaws it's very unlikely since the kingpin is in a higher position with more gap on the ones just mentioned. With these if you high hitch you really did not even look at all!
