From "my own personal experience": The 5er in my sig. came with GY G614's. I purchased it new in Oct. of 07....had set on the RV. Lot for a little over a year...coming home from a camping trip in TN, Oct of 2010, the tread peeled off one of the tires, (tire never lost one psi, thread peeled off, did a little damage to the 5er, but not really enough to mess with)... had manufacture date of 0606 on the tires. Called Coach.net, they sent someone out and it just happened they were from Wingfoot (GY Commercial truck service/sales)...Changed my tire out and, seeing as how that establishment was only 8 miles from my home, I pulled my 5er to their lot to get tire(s) replaced next day they were open.
Tires were a little over 4 yrs. old. Met with the Manager and he asked me if I wanted to file a claim....wasn't aware, at the time that I could....They took my tire, (less tread, but full of air), and sent it to wherever they send them with an explanation of what had happened. I left my 5er parked there while seeing what would happen. Was also asked if I wanted to file on any damages to my 5er, and I didn't.
In less than a work week, Goodyear decided to replace all four tires free of charge. While replacing the tires, they noticed that I had a sagging spring pack supporting where the tire had it's tread peeled off....They showed me so that I would know....(ended up replacing it after I got the tires put pack on), so I REALLY don't know if the tire failed, or the sagging spring pack caused low clearance above the tire (was hardly and 1.5 ")...or if losing tread caused damage to the spring....believe it or not, their take, not mine.
I signed paperwork stating I was happy with the results, (4 tires, mounted, balanced, steel valve stems...all free), and that I wouldn't file any more against GY on THIS incident. "Case Closed"
So tires were manufactured 0606, lost tread on one tire mid Oct, 2010....and they replaced all 4 tires....Now I have the 2010 tires on my 5er and all has been well thus far.
Oh, I alway's keep tires aired to 110 psi, per HR, (on tag on 5er), and per Wingfoot Service Rep...and I'm a OCD when it comes to tire pressure monitoring on my 5er and my vehicles.
