Sad story.

Here's a story for ya, true life story. We where on a trip with our travel trailer and suddenly had a tire blow on the trailer.

Got it over to the side of the road and got out to see what had happened.  Sure enough front tire passenger side totally decinagraded.  Ok,  no problem we have GoodSam roadside assistance. Gave them a call explained the situation, tire blowout on I-70 east bound mile marker 16.

GoodSam said no problem they'll get right on it and have someone come help. That was the last positive interaction with GS we had.

Two hours go by nothing, no tire repair guy, no call back just us sitting by the road in 96 degree heat and semis flying by at 75 miles an hour rocking our pickup and trailer like rag dolls on the cloths line.

So I give o'l GS a call make sure they didn't go out of business. "Now exactly where are you, can you give more detailed info" "We're having trouble finding someone to respond" ok we'll keep trying, ah... you might be there a while!" "Click!"

I waited another hour and got out and changed the tire myself. 70 years old,  on the side if I-70, 96 degrees, great just perfect!

So I get the tire changed tighten the last lug nut and stand up wiping the sweat off my brow and there stands the tire guy.

5 hours from the time I called! 5 hours in 96 degree heat. 5 hours! Sitting on the side of I-70 for 5 hours a foot from being a massive wreck on the interstate by a passing car or truck.

So the tire guy says "Did you already change it? Yep sure did! 5 hours is long enough! He says "I just got the request 30 minutes ago, I'm really sorry you where stranded here for 5 hours!"

So there's the "Sad Story". Not very nice.

Ever since GS got its new CEO this has been the results!

No communication from dispatcher about anything. No concern for our safety, no concern about how we were holding up in 96 degree heat. Nothing just "You might be there a while!"

They through away a great app for the new green gs app, pretty much useless compared to the old one.

Really to bad another great service company gone! The new one is useless, turned into a profit is everything.

How do you even talked to somebody about this? No contact numbers, no complaint process on the app!

Worthless,  just purely pathetic! Wonder what  AAA cost these days?

  • I have moved this post to "customer support" maybe some one in that division will see it and help you out.

  • I'm sorry to hear this. I just had the same experience yesterday, except the tire guy never showed up.  I just sent a letter to the CEO at this address:  [email protected].  I also sent a version condensed to 500 characters to this link:

    https://roadside.goodsam.com/contact-us?utm_source=chatgpt.com

If this works as well as trying to contact them yesterday for updates, I will never hear from them.  I have had this plan for at least 14 years.  I have needed assistance 4 times and 2 of those times I have had to handle the issue myself.  That is a 50% failure rate!  We all know what kind of grades you get when you only get 50% right.  Think I will just save my money and ask for a refund on the policy.

Marcus Lemonis is no longer the CEO as of January. Not sure where your email will go.

  • I have AAA, its not that bad, I pay 40/month for two premier memberships for my wife and kid and I have the premier with rv for my self.  I have no idea what good sam costs though as it is pretty much useless in Canada now days, used to give you good discounts all over when I was young but it is hardly accepted anymore up here from what I have seen.  but I also don';t frequent private campgrounds much, I am almost exclusivly provincial and federal campgrounds

  • Road side assistance programs work on an "in network" system. Meaning that of the handful of capable shops in the area probably only one ( and that's never a guarantee) has a contract with good sam. They dont pay for the tire either. Personally I haven't had RSA in 10 years. Had a few flats in the past few years. Always back on the road in an hour by being able to call everyone until I get some who can respond right now. I doubt I'm even spending any more money.

  • Sorry for your troubles. Depends where you are and how busy the service is that day. Personally I would have changed it myself and not called. I’m 77 next month. With my home built ramp it’s easy.
