I started locking my hitch head to the base in 2005 with my first B&W Companion. The head is easy to remove so I drilled out the pins and installed two small padlocks keyed alike. I also placed a Padlock in the latching handle, I don't trust people!
Then this year when I bought the new RAM with pucks I changed to the B&W RVK3600 and sold my old Companion on CL.
On the new Companion I have the handle locked and two locks on the pucks on opposing corners all keyed alike. I just transferred the old head pins and locks from the old Companion.
The locks are to keep MOST people from stealing the $1,200 hitch. The handle lock is to keep some prankster from pulling the handle.
