LOSS OF COMMON SENSE

I am writing to warn potential new ext. warranty subscribers.
1. my shower pan cracked.
2. I called in the claim, spoke to kevin. in our conversation kevin said the usual fix for this claim is to replace the whole shower stall.
3. brought rv to repair shop. owner called GS for authorization. the claims rep. approved replacement of the pan but not the shower wall.
repair shop explained that to replace the pan the wall has to be removed since the wall overlaps the pan so water runs into the pan and drain. repair shop explained the wall is screwed and glued to the wall of the rv. since the wall is thin fiberglass chances are it will crack. claim rep said if they crack it they have to pay for it.
they of course choose to not repair the pan having to accept such stupid mentality.
I called and repeated THE WALL HAS TO BE REMOVED TO REPLACE THE PAN.
THE WALL IS VERY THIN AND WILL ALMOST SURELY CRACK. GOOD SAM SAID THE REPAIR SHOP WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE IT OR I WOULD.
4. we decided to pay for the wall and it was ordered we had been out of the rv for 5 wks. upon the rv shop explaining the pan has to be made and it could take a long time, we canceled the order and are dealing with a cracked shower pan.
5. even if the pan could be replaced without cracking, having a new pan with old wall would look pretty bad.
6. the amt. is not thousands of dollars about $206 more.
7. the GS rep. said the shower is part of wastewater system
my contract reads gold terms and cond. ext. ser. plan

quote: 2. waste system assembly-covers ALL parts, EXCEPT for the following: whirlpool, jetted, or spa bath systems and related accessories.
8. I believe the contract has been breached.
9. I will make a complaint to BBB.
10. I will look at my options for not honoring the contract in good faith and don't care what the cost will be for legal fees\

    UPDATE FROM ON LOSS OF COMMON SENSE BSOIL 1948.

    well I have to say GS responded quickly as I got a call the following morning.
    lady said she would see what she could do and get back to me. this was Friday last week. I told her take her time cause I was going to do what I had to do. and have a year to decide.

    she got back to me in about 3hrs and said the top dogs said to pay for everything including the deduct. I had to pay for it and then send all in for reimbursement.

    ok no problem. told her to send me a letter or email stating what we had agreed upon so there would be no more confusion and I have proof.
    waited till yesterday.

    no email no letter call GS the customer service guy said there was something about they would pay for shower to be fixed but not specific about the wall and the deduct. there was no signature of who handled the call nor contact info.

    if I had went and paid to have it fixed the next thing would have been there was no specific record stating what was agreed upon.

    told the cust. ser. to research and get back to me. as of 2 days no hear anything.

    told him I would definitely want something in hard copy writing since no specific record was recorded in my file about exactly what would be paid for.

    BEWARE.. CYA CYA CYA


    GET IT IN WRITING IF THERE IS A RESOLUTION.

Recently I had two grey water tanks, one black water tank, microwave convection oven, inverter, patio awning motor and rear view camera system replaced under my Cornerstone extended warranty. All made without question or quibbling with Cornerstone. And I only had to pay 1 one hundred dollar deductible for $6,000 worth of work. All this was on a 2009 Montana Big Sky that I purchased less than a year ago. Repairs were done at Alliance RV, Wildwood, FL.
    Normally, I don’t believe in extended warranties but this proved to be a great investment.


    What was the cost of that extended warranty?

    I also had a cracked shower pan in our motorhome but the rep told me it was not covered??? Go figure. So I filed a comp claim with my insurence company no problem was covered . Total cost $ 975 less my $250 deductible, The walls of my shower are not glued to the backing so they were reused.

    There are 3 NEVER DO's that come to mind.

    1. Never purchase a EXTENDED WARRANTY
    2. Never purchase a NEW RV
    3. Never purchase a RV from a DEALER

    If these 3 NEVER's are honored, 90% of your problems are solved.

    Line up people who SELL extended warranties. 10 out of 10 will be happy.

    I can certainly understand where you are coming from but in the same respect, I can also understand the shop's point of view as well. There is no telling how brittle the wall is or how it is secured to the backer board/studwall. They have been told that if they break it they buy it and if it were me I would also refuse to do the job as I would not wish to be responsible for that considering that there is a good chance of it breaking on removal.

    I agree, but also, I would not expect GS or an other insurance company to cover anything that is not damaged under the conditions that it is not warranted for.
