Anyone own a 18-20 ft 5th wheel?

When we went to the Scamp factory the 5th wheel we looked at was about 3000 dry weight. Albeit they are small so adding much gear is more of a where do you put it I think it would have bee 35-3700 lbs down the road and they recommended a mid sized truck or at most a 1/2 ton. Because of bed height they couldn't even fit one on a 3/4 ton. It's good to hear that people are having no problem towing the small conventional 5th wheels with a 1/2 ton. We are hoping to stay in the 45-5000 GVR range. The dry weights on the used ones we have looked at are 3-3500 lbs. If there is space to put it I assume we will add the typical 700-1000 lbs of stuff inside. We boon dock camp most of the time so between propane, water, generator and gas can there is 300 lbs minimum. We foolishly thought that we could be in the 3500 lb GVR when we started looking but soon learned that is a pipe dream.
We have looked at the Escape online but never seen one and there doesn't seem to be many for sale.

I had a 2000 Silverado 5.3l and 3.73 rear end. Pulled a 1998 Jayco 23RK(gvw 7000 lbs) and was a good matchup. Loved that little 5th wheel!

Any half ton since 2000, with appropriate engine, should pull the fifth wheels being talked about with no problems.

Yes Ive pulled in the mountains with the trailer full of gear and water tank full without issue, just take my time and let the truck do the work. No stress or anything on the truck at all. That pic was with my old 2008. I have a new 2014 with the 5.0 and it pulls even better.

We looked at a 1998 of that exact model online the other day and wondered if a F150 could pull it. We thought 4000 lbs dry wt would be too heavy for the cargo capacity but apparently not. Have you pulled it in the mountains?

I bought a 1997 Prowler 21 5B, 2 years ago that was like new and I love it. Pulls behind my F150 SHORT BOX with no issues what so ever and for just my wife and I the layout is perfect. I use this unit from May 1 to December 15th or so without issue

i saw something like that at the camper show but it was more like a hybrid camper without the wheels mounted on the flat bed with the open deck behind. But like most toy haulers built heavy to handle a extra 3000 lb load.

Call the manufacturer for info. When we bought our used Fleetwood we called and they not only told us all the data on the phone but followed up with a spec sheet in the mail.

I showed my wife the picture of the trailer with the rear door and she loved it. I've looked online and haven't found another one like yours anywhere.

I'll do some research, but I thought it was 3500# dry. I'll go out today and check.
