Five years is when my Goodyear blowed up. And it wasn’t the sidewall shredded failure but a single bullet hole blowout.
Road Hazard?
Nope. Sitting at a stop sign after a fifteen minute drive.
Tire guy thought it was mfg defect where there was an air pocket in the belt layer and the steel rusts out over time and creates a weak spot. - Cummins12V98Explorer III

Mine are four years old now and look perfect, I have the whole set-up looked at yearly by my tire place and their take is as long as the tires aren't showing age/weather cracking or wear they are good-to-go so would they not still be viable after five years?
Six years seems to be the limit on these RV tires . Although most never wear them out, they age out. The G614 are no exception.
I ran mine six years, got them off there ,and went to Sailuns - MPI_MallardExplorerMine are four years old now and look perfect, I have the whole set-up looked at yearly by my tire place and their take is as long as the tires aren't showing age/weather cracking or wear they are good-to-go so would they not still be viable after five years?
- I HAD a set of G614's that showed that exact sign.... the folks at Goodyear called it "Shoulder Step" and considered it normal wear...
I dropped them and put on a set of Goodyear G114, H rated... - Big_KatunaExplorer IIFive years is when my Goodyear blowed up. And it wasn’t the sidewall shredded failure but a single bullet hole blowout.
- Retired_JSOExplorer IIThey look like my new ones tread wise. 5 years is about time to replace.
- cummins2014ExplorerIt came down to inflation over on the Montana forum, but as said don't remember the solution.
Thats the first thing Sailun rep asked me on the Sailun tire that I lost, was how was the wear, he said when they start wearing unusual, it usually over inflation . My Sailuns have worn very evenly, although they are over inflated according to the inflation chart he sent me .
HE told me as long as I like the ride of the fifth wheel, and no unusual wear it was okay to run the 100 psi. - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIWhat is weight on axles?
What air pressure have you been running tires at?
What type of suspension......leaf springs/torsion axles?
If leaf springs are bushing plastic/OEM or replaced with aftermarket upgrades?
5 yrs per tire date code.
New tires while you have time/at home........why mess around out of road during one of your trips - cummins2014ExplorerThats a common complaint about those G614's . There was a thread awhile back about guys complaining on the Montana Forum about wear like that on their G614's . Looks like nothing has changed with those Goodyears. 5 years ,and that wear its time for Sailuns. :)
Not sure what they came up with, its been awhile, but I am pretty sure it was inflation .
