Are ther check valves on suburban water heaters and if so where are they

Yes, the Suburban DOES have a check valve. On the outlet from the heater. Stop by your favorite RV supply/big box/hardware store and purchase a new one and install it with teflon tape or PTFE liquid. Lots of messages on various forums about this same problem. It's very common.
