Articulating Hitch vs Not

Hello Everyone,

I am looking into getting the Demco 18k Autoslide for my F350 Shortbed with the Ford Prep Package. I would like to have everyones input on having a hitch that articulates vs one that doesn't. Is one that Articulates really needed for day to day driving to a park and then to another park?

Thanks
Earle

  • I suspect that it is one of those things that once you have one you wondered how you ever got by without it.

    Never not had one.

It can be a real be-otch getting hitched and unhitched with a non side to side articulating hitch. I had a RBW years ago and had to shim up one side of the trucks rear end to get the truck level enough to hitch.

What he said. I been there also.

Got a fore and aft/side to side now and will never be any other way.
  • Close to subject. While going around an uphill cloverleaf to get on a freeway (big rig) the angle was right and the inside tires lifted off the ground. Sudden stop. I had to lock the axles to go on around. The hitch on a big rig does not articulate sided to side. I don't know if it could happen on a 5th wheel but don't want to find out. My Curt goes both ways...

  • Thank you for your input. Anyone out there that has this hitch and troubles with this?
  • Articulating Hitch Head........tilts fore and aft AND side to side

    NON.......tilts only fore and aft

The articulating 4 way head makes hitching/unhitching on non-level/off canter surfaces SO Much easier
Glad to have mine on many occasions .....even while in transit and having to make a turn going in/coming out of a driveway or approach that was up hill/down hill/off level/off angle

    YES to articulating hitch head
