I think you have figured it out for yourself. Size matters. Go over 30' & site availability dramatically decreases the larger you go. Yeah, sure the commercial parks have sites for everything. That is fine & dandy if you like essentialy carpark camping in 'resorts'.
If SPs, County parks & NPs are the preference, smaller is unquestionably better.
A balance for the long term traveler is finding the right length with the space to live in it comfortably.
