I commented on this to Robert, the OP, a few posts back. I remember reading, somewhere, that there is actually a reg on the amount of rear overhang allowed on towables in Australia. Never heard any reasoning for it, though.

This is a reg on Class C overhang. Having less than 10% toungue weight, is not good
Don't disagree at all, Robert. We about lost a freshly restored 1936 John Deere Model A (mine!) off the back-end of one of our implement trailers over concerns with overloading the truck, so had too little tongue weight. As it was, one rear tire was about 3" off the edge by the time we got it stopped from a max of about 45 mph. Cross-tied the snot outta that for sure! :-)
