awning problem

Good morning! The other day we were getting ready to head back home, when my electric awning would not work. But in my Jayco 5thwheel there is a remote control that controls the awning and slides. That worked and was able to get the awning back in? Is there a fuse blown or loose? Did some quick research and wondering if there is another fuse panel in the bathroom underneath the sink? ANy suggestions?

Thank you have a great day!

  • Was the awning opened with the remote?

It is my understanding that the remote overrides the switches or if you turn it on with a remote you have to turn it off with the remote, the switches will not work.

We had this issue with a friends rig when he could not turn the outside lights off after turning them on with the remote.

    Hope this helps.
  • Possibly a fuse. My landing gear works the same way, switch or remote. The switch method would not work, but the remote did. I traced the wiring from the switch and found a blown in-line fuse near the battery. Replaced that and the switch worked again. Not the same problem, but the same concept.
  • If the remote control worked your fuse is probably good. My guess would be the manual switch you were trying to use before you tried the remote.
If possible pull the panel out and check to make sure the wires are attached to the back of the switch.
If the wires are tight on the switch then you will need to test the switch to see if it works.
