awning tension rails

I was given those curved awning tension rods.
put 3 on just for test. really like how it curves up and supports awning.
are they a good idea, or could they cause problems.
  • A few years back we would go to the rgv and stay 5 months. A neighbour had awning bows 4 maybe 5 on his awning. Very windy were we were. He never had to take his awning in, in any wind. The two on either end were maybe 12-14 inches from the ends and the rest spaced across.
  • Because of the length of my awning, I have four of them awning bows. I really like them, but I also added four awning "deflappers", two on each side of the awning. It seems like my awning is pretty tight and will put up with quite a bit of wind.
  • Good idea until it get windy...then they slow down the process of rolling in the awning before it get damaged...
Just keep an eye on the weather.
