Thinking of purchasing a Fuzion 371. Question, 371 has two axles, each rated at 7000lbs. Total weight of 371 (13140 shipping and 3360 cargo) is 16000lbs. Question is how does the axle ratings support this weight? Thanks BobbyDale
Actually it's 16500# GVWR. When you deduct the manufacturer's published hitch weight of 3015# you end up with a possible 13485# on the axles. The certification label will show those 7000# axles as being derated to 6750# each.
FastEagle - MTPockets1ExplorerYou need a DRW truck, and, if you can order the trailer, upgrade the axles to 8000 lb with at least the G614 tires.

Make sure any truck you consider has the payload capacity, and rear axle capacity, to carry that pin weight.
PLUS
diesel fuel, hitch, passengers, dogs, beer, power cables, firewood, etc. (Hitch and beer may be most important, but 35 gallons of D-2 weighs more than you might think.)
This is a very good point! A trailer this size is going to require a truck with a large payload capacity. This can be more confusing, than the axle rating of the trailer.
Towing capacity, and payload capacity, are quite different.

- JIMNLINExplorer III16000 GVWR trailer = a 3200 lb pin weight leaves = 12800 lb on the axles.
Two 7000 lb axles = 14000 lbs capacity - MFLNomad IIThey figure the truck is going to carry 20%, about 3,200, and the rest will be on the trailer axles, if you had it fully loaded.
