- 2oldmanExplorer III am so used to mirrors that I'm almost incapable of backing without them. And I never turn my head to see traffic in a merging lane either.
- joebedfordNomad IIGotta use mirrors - can't see turning around.
Having said that, if I'm backing from the wrong side (passenger), once I'm jack-knifed it's easier to see the wheels looking back (actually it's impossible to see the wheels in the mirror). - Johnny_HExplorerI use mirrors and mainly because if I am cutting the trailer that tight I am putting too much strain on the suspension for my taste and besides that I don't want to replace the cab of my truck.

I have electric outside mirrors. I point them anywhere I want to look.
If I'm backing up around a tight space, I will look back out my window or the right side backseat window.
I even get out and look. I might get out and look several times.
Whatever it takes.
I don't just backup blindly.
Protect your rig!!!!

I look out the back seat right side window a lot too - when I'm back the trailer to the right.
I also get out and look, often several times - it's a must because I always travel solo.- fla-gypsyExplorerMirrors

or are you old school and turn your head back 180 to look or both?
My head won't turn 180 degrees to look backwards (no one else's dies either, unless they have a rubber neck), but turning to look back affords zero view out the back window with a trailer hooked up, so I use the mirrors.
Did you mean backing up with or without a trailer?- Alabama_JimExplorerMainly Mirrors.
- BigDogF250ExplorerMirrors mostly, sometimes I look back if working at an angle. I also send my wife out there with a walkie talkie if it's a tight space, I just have her keep talking (which is easy for her). Hearing clear..clear..clear.. is reassuring when the back of the trailer is 40 something feet back there and there is a well on the blind side.
Ok, the continuous talking thing is really to keep the mic live so that there are no claims that "she told me" when the walkie was not working. This way there is no lag between when she says stop and when I hear it. - Sandia_ManExplorer IIBackup camera for hitching and mirrors for backing into a site. It's been many a year since I've had the ability to turn my head 180 for any reason.
- arhayesExplorerI use the mirrors as well, but also added s wireless camera which links to my Garmin 760 GPS. Helps with backing AND when I pass people on the road.
