Battery Disconnect Switch

TxGearhead....second your observation....the labeling on my 5er disconnect is confusing as well. I had to experiment by killing power and checking lights to determine which position was "on" or 'off". It should say Battery: Connected/Disconnected.

So all that and nobody answered the OP's question. Turn the switch to the OFF position.
It's kinda a double negative. Turn the disconnect to off to disconnect the battery. Been better to just label the switch: BATTERY: OFF or ON. You're not the only one that has confused.
All the other answers are probably true.

Just disconnect the ground cable from the battery

I have started turning the battery disconnect, but still don't understand what the power draw items are.

finally dragged the battery to be tested after charge up. had a bad cell.

replacement has been in for 2 weeks, 100 degree weather, without solar charger, and is doing fine. put the solar maintainer on yesterday.

You might want to double check that. My entertainment center is all 110 v...except the amp for the speakers, it is a 12v car amp.

thanks.. my setup is a Samsung system with direct wired remote speakers. they plug into the back of the blueray unit. that is all there is. the sub is not powered

Doesn't matter what the capability of the controller is if the panel(s) will only produce 10 watts maximum.

That means that with direct sun you probably are getting a half an amp to the the batteries.....and it doesn't take much to make up a half amp of misc. phantom draw from alarms, propane solenoids, etc.

For that 10 watt panel to keep the batteries up, you have to be positively sure that NOTHING else is connected except the solar controller. How you do that varies a bit depending on your specific setup.

YOU NEED A MULTI-METER.

You need to find the battery disconnect switch because "things" might be on that you can't turn off individually.

It is possible that your batteries are bad but not likely.
You won't know that until you get a meter.
What kind of batteries are they; the kind that you can add water to ??
What is the wattage capacity of your solar panel and controller ?

I will have to go look at the battery again, I am pretty sure it is a sealed unit. not add water. came with the trailer, single 12v.

the solar panel is 10 watt, the controller is 100watt.
