Personally I'd prefer 2 batteries. So I would ask for two 34s (you won't get AGM of course), if that is the largest that can fit in a pair.
But even if they only agree to one battery I would still ask for it to be 34. Then you can simply add another to have two.
I would also demand the other dead battery so it can be given as the core when purchasing another.
