Starting to look for a 1-3 year old 5th wheel under 30 feet for cross country travel. We want to tour the U.S.this summer and want something dependable that won't shake apart after a couple of weeks on the road.WOuld appreciate suggestions from folks that have done similar travels with their unit. Lots of choices in that size! We've looked at hundreds of models at RV shows. Jayco, Wildcat, and Cougar are our favorites in that size. We had a 2009 Wildcat and really liked it.

I was looking to replace my 2007 Excel 28RT and wanted to stay under 30' and wanted a quality built rig. Only thing I found even close was Arctic Fox as far as quality goes. In the end decided to just keep what I have and change the few things I don't like and they are few. Just like to make a change sometimes. May consider adding auto level system. If you can find a used Excel in the length you are looking for I would look at it. They are a very well built unit.

I wanted a shorter quality unit and bought our NuWa 29.5 FKTG used. It has about 14' between the living room slides and the floor plan we have seems a lot roomier than the newer 40 footer we had before. Our shortest most favorite fiver.

We had a Holiday Rambler Savoy (2008) travel trailer and despite being taken care of , it developed leaks on the roof and around 2 windows and had wiring issues. It had been traveled in less that 1000 miles and then was put on a seasonal lot. Got rid of that this past spring and looking for something reasonable and reliable. I'll look at the Montana/Cardinal.

We had a Cougar 281EFS that did not hold up to my abuse and now I will see if this rig can take the punishment better!
