best new 5er about 32 foot. to purchase.

My boys father in law wants to get a 5th wheel about 32 foot. he want a quality one and has about 100k to spend. We are in So. California. What are the best ones out there for his purchase. some of the models names that came up with a quick search where
New Horizon
Artic Fox
Montana
Cardinal
Hitch Hicker
Forrest River
Mobile suites

My boy and I both have 5er but we are in the 12 yr old models and under 10k.

He has a newer Ford dually 450 I believe as a tow vehicle.
thanks for your help Ed
  • just for quicky are any of the ones on the list substandard??
He is getting out of the offroad buggy thing because of an serious accident/injury and getting rid of his 3 axle 45 foot toy hauler and wants something more suited for camping and vacationing. A lot of places or not suited for the real big long trailer. so that is where we came up with the 35 foot size,
The buggy thing is on hold for a while.
  • Could be tough to find one that short.

Add Grand Design Solitude to the list.

Sadly, most of them on the list are not suitable for his truck. So unless he is going for a new/newer dually he will need to stick with a fifth wheel under 10,000 GVWR Arctic Fox does have several models that might work if he is very careful. But they are heavy for their size, so again look at GVWR numbers.

He's got a newer 450 to tow with - plenty of towing power for the fivers listed for that length.

    Oops missed that

    No problem ;)
  • You forgot to list Heartland Bighorn, another full time, luxury fifth wheel. :)
  • Artic Fox or Mobile Suites. The AF is nice and also four season. The Mobile Suites is more a full time unit with fancy amenities. Depends on what you are looking for. He can pull anything with the 450 Dually

I just check with my boy, he has a 2008 Ford F450 dually.
