- Y-GuyModeratorMany regular CL posters pick up an el cheapo Wal-Mart phone for a few bucks. Or if you have a smart phone they use a throw away phone number (google that) as mentioned scammers rarely call, they hide behind email.
- takenExplorer IIAfter a few times back and fourth, sometimes your email address shows up in the email header even if you use their email forwarding system. It's happened to me more than once.

Do not answer stupid questions from craigslist. These are not real buyers but rather spammers looking for you to respond trying to get your email address. craigslist's mail forwarding system is better than the old days where your first reply provided them with your address but enough back and fourth and sometimes it slips through. I always put in my ads, "email's will not be responded to due to spammers." I also only check the respond by phone box when creating my add and the no replies this email box when creating the ad. This cuts down on the nonsense. However, even if you don't click the respond by text, people will still attempt to text you and if you use a cell number you will get more spam that way so I would use your home number only.
As to low ball offers, not being able to email or text eliminates a lot of those too. People generally don't have the b's to do that on the phone but it's very easy to do it by email or text without feeling like a jerk.
Another tip is to put in your ad, "calls from brokers and advertisers will not be responded to." Brokers will often try to sell you on them advertising your RV all over the place for hundreds of dollars guaranteeing a sale. This a known BS.
Lastly, don't put your phone number in the body of the ad. Only enter it in the drop down box when creating the ad. This prevents automated number searching programs from finding your number and putting it on lists for telemarketers to call.
Everyone likes to do things a little differently, and no doubt the volume of spammers may vary from region to region and city to city. Personally, I have never put a phone number in my craigslist ads. I communicate via the craigslist email forwarding system. I ignore spammers and so on, and even if I reply, they don't have my real email address. Even a legitimate shopper who ends up buying my item for sale never gets my real email address. I never provide my phone # unless and until I have "vetted" a shopper and they are coming to see what I am selling. - takenExplorer IIDo not answer stupid questions from craigslist. - B_O__PlentyExplorer III tried RVTrader RVT and Craigs for a couple months this Summer. Not a single inquiry. I was priced $4,000 under LOW NADA retail. Priced it lower than all the competition. Rig is perfect, loaded with extras. Lots of pictures too. I just don't think the market for bigger fifth wheels, toyhaulers etc is very good in the Midwest. Keep seeing the same ads for months. If you're a seller or a buyer you better be ready for a very long wait to get out when you decide to sell...
B.O. - tchilExplorerI vote for craigslist. I am looking for a trailer right now and craigs is where most of the trailers for sale are listed.
I cannot say enough about the importance of lots of very high quality pictures and a quality comprehensive add. I look as so many trailers that have terrible cell phone pics from a greasy camera with their finger in the picture. My suggestion would be use a real digital camera and take 30-40 pics. Then get the options list for your model of trailer and list every option you have. Finally make sure that the maint you have done is listed and when it was done.
If you don't spend at least 1-2 hours getting the pics and creating your add you are leaving buyers and money on the table in my opinion. I am willing and have paid more for things when I feel like they were well taken care of and I know what I am getting. Just my .02 Cents. - Sharps45120ExplorerWe also sold our Work and Play on Craigslist. January is actually a great time to list because of Daytona Bike Week, which is usually late Feb/early March. This is a tough time of year to sell any RV.
Ebay is also good for wider exposure, but we've had a lot of scam replies and virtual tire kickers from ebay ads. Never had a single reply from ads on the RV Trader site - total waste of money.
Make up fliers and call your local motorcycle dealers to post them. They all have bulletin boards to put up for sale ads and I'm sure would be happy to help you. - PyroTekRobExplorerI bought my used trailer on RVTrader.com
