We have traveled all over Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming with our Chevrolet Duramax/Allison and agree with the post above. We just got back from Petit Jean Mountain in Arkansas and came down the "steep side"--short but steep. No sweat! Over Monarch many times, Wolf Creek several times, Raton a breeze, Vail on the freeway, etc.
I can't make a comparison, as I have not tried any of the others, and feel no need to do so.
Posted earlier, as I said I have owned all three.
That said, my new Ram with exhaust brake is just as good as the Duramax/Allison combination. I have the 385 horse Aisin transmission version.
So again, drive all three. What's best for one person may entirely not be to your liking.
