ChuckV1 --- What does cruise control have to do with it. It just applies throttle similar to the foot pedal. I found the issue with my second gen that had to much slack in the pedal cable to the APPS because the cruise control pulled hills faster than the foot pedal. Throttle is throttle whither the cruise control is applying or your foot.
