The best truck is one that will handle the trailer. You need to be looking at the truck manufacturers towing specs so you can make a decision on which truck can handle the trailer. Get the facts read the specs, do not rely on personal opinions. You are legally responsible for having an adequate tow vehicle.

I'd get a 1 ton dually. Any of the current Ford, Chebbie or Ram will do the job.

If you can afford the dismal fuel mileage a gasser will provide. Over 10k lbs. dry weight, diesel is the way to go.

When you get into a 16k fifth wheel, dual wheel 1 tons are even marginal. For me, it'd be a true medium size truck comparable to a Ford F650 or F750.

Been pulling about 13,000 lbs. with SRW. Decided we wanted to buy a longer trailer so bought a f350 DRW this year and in a year or two get the longer trailer. I was shocked at how easy the dRW rig pulled the same trailer. Make sure you go to DRW.

I will say my 2007.5 Ram had its share of major troubles during it's first year. 3 turbos, several heater grid and EGR cleanings, lots of updates, O2 sensors etc. All issues have been emissions related. Dodge agreed to give me a 7yr unlimited mile bumper to bumper $0 deductible warranty rather than lemon it. Decided to keep it. Warranty has paid for a few minor issues. After the 1st year of troubles its been flawless ever since and now have 80K miles on it. Plan on keeping it for years to come.
