Black tank flush n/g, Keystone quality control.

While I'm awaiting a resolution for my leaking bedroom slide on my brand new 25RES from Keystone I decided to tackle the black tank flush.

I noticed that the black tank flush failed to work soon after delivery.

Peeling back the curved access panel in the main storage compartment and following the water line from the tank flush inlet I noticed it curved up, rather than going directly to the black tank. Then it hit me, just like on my old 2003 Cougar they place that stupid backflow/vacuum-break valve under the bathroom sink! I remember that valve, because it burst one day flooding the bathroom.

Sure enough, on inspection, they installed the valve backwards, preventing water from going to the tank flush assembly within the black tank!!!

It was a 5 minute job to reverse the fittings on the valve.

I do like that curved panel in the main storage area, with the removal of a few screws you have access to 75% of the plumbing and electrical fittings, kudos to Keystone for that!, I have a feeling I'll be spending alot of time there.

  • "Glad it was an easy fix. You should send a bill for your time to Keystone for warranty repairs at shop rates. Seriously...

I'd also replace the screws with strips of velcro since you're likely to strip the screw holes out from wear.

Thats a good tip about the velcro, I'm thinking I'll be spending alot of time laying sideways in the storage compartment.

50/50 chance of getting it right :S

And besides WHO is going to check it anyway :H

    Not exclusive to Keystone either.
    You got that RIGHT! ;)

The black tank flush line in my 2016 Arctic Fox TT was also plumbed backwards.
It wasn't actually the anti-syphon/vacuum breaker valve, it was the backflow check valve which is threaded into the downstream side of it.
  • You must have a different type antisiphon/vacuum breaker valve that mine. If mine were hooked up backward water would gush out the top of that valve when a flush was started.

  • Well, at least you know the back flow valve works good!

I was trying to figure out why a fuse kept blowing in our new AF. Finally tracked it down to a USB charge port hooked up backwards.
And they make a big deal about how they "surge test" the electrics in these trailers...
