black tank flush

hmmm I have a flush system(s) in my last three rvs I have not experienced a leak or backwards fixture or valve or prob?!?! and I have always used it to backfill and release at least a few times then open and let it run a while.

but I have experienced failure and or miss readings on EVERY tank gauge set in EVERY rv/trailer/camper / boat etc. I have ever had!!! Those are the item of distrust and dissention!!!!

besides I think it is not nec. to fill a 40 gal tank to 30 gals a "few" times to flush it good, depending on water pressure I will let it spray and fill for about 2-3 mins each a couple times then leave drain valve open and go to toilet open flush valve with foot and flashlight look into and see if any solids left in immediate vicinity, common sense and gravity dictate that pyramid directly below toilet valve means another flush, then watch the clear connector till it runs clean. Oh yeah and it helps to use the level-up hydraulic jacks to raise the left side about a foot higher than right side.

You guys are making this way too hard.
Hook up hose and close black tank valve.
Turn on water and go inside RV. Check the monitor panel every few
minutes.
I do this after first dumping the black tank and it usually takes 10 minutes or more before the monitor panel reads full.
I then go pull the valve open and get a really good flow to rinse.
Sometimes I will even do this twice. Using the campgrounds water doesn't cost anything extra.

Bingo. I do the same thing. DO NOT leave the valve closed and walk off without a timing device.

Yes it is a false statement. But ..... If you close the drain and let it fill one of two things will happen. When the tank gets full either your toilet seal will rupture filling your coach with sewer water or if that holds that vent pipe on the roof is where the sewer water will be coming out of. If you are going to close the valve set a timer on your phone for a few minutes so you do not forget the tank is filling.

That actually makes sense and I never thought of that. I was told that piece of info at the dealer when I picked up my RV and never gave it much thought. Thanks Okie1.

With all the inside floods I read about with the Santi-flush from loose connections,kinked hoses, backwards check valves, to high or low water pressure, I don't use mine at all. Went and bought a Flush King and just use it.

Get a clear extension for your sewer pipe. After emptying the black tank connect a hose to the flush connection and let the water run for a few minutes. (I leave the hose connected if we will be in one place several days). You will most likely see additional solids coming out when the flush starts running. I typically close my black tank valve while the flush is running, let the flush run for 2-3 minutes to build up some water in the tank, then open the black tank valve, and let it dump. Then repeat a time or two until I see little or no more solids coming out. The extra clean water accumulating in the bottom each time seems to flush out extra solids.
Just do not forget and leave the flush running very long with the valve closed.

I have one on my new 5'er but find while it helps it does not do a complete job. I still back flush with a Flush King. With the sprayer I don't have to back flush as many times as I did on my older trailer that lacked a built in sprayer.
