black tank rinser

Howdy all. I'm sitting here at a full hook up site in my new to me HitchHiker. This is my first outing in it. This one has the built in black tank rinser. My old one did not. My question is, how do you guys use your black tank rinser when at a full hook up site? I do have a separate hose I would use exclusively for the rinser, but there is only one spigot here and it is for potable water. What do the rest of you do? No sewer/dump available at home.

    Keep the tank valves closed until nearly full, then dump and flush. I have a separate hose for fresh water and flushing but I don't think it matters. The flush inlet has a back flow valve on it so nothing will come back in to the hose. You can hook up to the normal spigot.

    You can use potable water. Your black tank doesn't care.

    I have a Y fitting I install on the park faucet with a white hose to my fresh water connection and a green hose to my black tank flush. Each side of the Y has a shutoff valve. I leave the fresh water side valve open. Then I just open/close the flush side valve each time after I drain the black tank.

    You mean there is no possible way to contaminate the potable water hooking up a hose to my black tank and the potable water spigot?

    Correct. the black tank flush valve will not allow 'backwards flow'.. Pun intended :)

    No. How's that going to happen? It's not like black water somehow climbs up the tube and swims upstream to the faucet.

    Connect only when in use and there is no back flow.
    I rinse at the final dump before I roll.

    Just don't leave it on and walk away with the dump valve closed.

    I had a similar setup and would stop the water flow with the hose valve so there was no chance for backflow which would be possible if you turned the spigot off with the inline hose valve open.

    with the black tank rinser I did not have to "nearly fill" the black tank as the sprayer pushed the stuff towards the drain.
