What happened to the OP (actually others before him) is the reason I chose the Pullrite superglide. I looked at the initial cost, at the time it cost me $2800 installed, and the manual slider option would have been around $1000. Would have saved $1800.
Then I looked at the cost if I forgot to slide it or I was trying to get to a fuel pump and things got tight and I hit the cab like the OP did. Damage to truck (I'll let the OP tell us what that cost) plus the $2800 for an auto slider plus the $1000 for the original hitch I would be taking out of the truck. Even if the insurance kicks in I would be looking at a $500 deductible.
So instead of saving $1800 by not buying the autoslider (or only paying $1000 out of pocket originally). Once I hit the truck it would have cost me $1000 + $2800 + $500 = $4300 out of pocket.
I chose the $2800 up front.

FYI with the pullrite and the angle you show in your bottom picture, you would have about 6 inches of clearance. I have the same truck.
