– Keep trailer tires in a cool dry place and out of direct sunlightduring storage.
– Use tire covers to protect tires from the harsh effects of directsunlight, moisture and temperature extremes.
– During extended storage, use a thin piece of wood or other surfacebarrier under tires to extend tire life. For seasonal or extreme longterm storage, elevate the trailer on blocks to take the weight off thetires. Reduce the air pressure and cover the tires to protect them from direct sunlight.
We lived in our 28' 5th wheel for 7 months through the winter. I used stacks of 3' sections of RR ties placed at different angles to each other at the 4 corners. This keeps them from all rolling one direction. I used wood blocks under the axle next to the U bolt with 2" x 8" under the tires. Landing jacks just for stabilization. For 7 months I kept the tires at max pressure.
