Blue Ox Bed Saver Doesn't Work on Pullrite Superglide?

I didn't want to hijack the other thread on the poor guy that dropped his fiver on the bedrails so I thought I would start this more specific thread for my question.

After reading the other thread and being a newbie I immediately went to Amazon to purchase the Blue Ox for my Pullrite Superglide 15k Model 2700 hitch. In the review section of the Blue Ox product for the pullrite superglide there was a guy who warned against it. He stated he installed it and it did considerable damage to his Superglide hitch due to poor product design and Blue Ox not knowing how the new Superglides actually work. After contacting Blu Ox they told him to ship them his hitch so they could look at it! A 300 pound hitch!!

So my question is I don't want to spend a couple hundred bucks on this product if it destroys my $2,000 dollar hitch. What say you?

The bed-saver will not work with your Superglide due to the way the Superglide hitch rotates and slides to move the pivot to the rear when you are turning.
I don't have a solution for you, other than make sure your Superglide is hitched properly each and every time.
With the hitch latch wrapping completely around the king pin I feel a lot more secure than the hitches that have jaws that can open.
Nine years a Superglide user and never a problem.
  • I don't have a superglide but I do have the superfifth. We bought a bed-saver and the first one they sent us was the wrong model and didn't fit. The took that back, paying for shipping and sent the correct model. OK I thought, they made a mistake but fixed it.

We installed the bed saver and since we had the shipping foul up didn't get a chance to check it before leaving. It turns out it is mounted too high on the hitch and the king pin doesn't clear the bed saver as you unhitch (or hitch) This eventuall damaged our hitch, pullrite sent a set of repair parts but it still doesn't seem to be working right.

Advice: don't buy it unless they've fixed that problem.
  • Don't know how Blue Ox fits, but I've also heard they don't fit SuperGlides.

After getting our new Pullrite hitch (a few weeks ago) and looking at the wrap-around mechanism I'm not as concerned as I was about needed to add a Blue Ox on. Hopefully I won't regret that decision :)
