I too have the same model, am thinking though of painting the bar white so it is easier to see, or seeing if reflective tape would stick to it, make it even easier to see.
I have access to yellow and white, plus some small red stick on reflectors.
I have the same Hijacker. If I see that bar across the pin I know it's secure. I rarely do the pull test, although I agree it's not a bad idea.
