Did you tow your 5er to the beach, and if so, how did the brakes feel on the way there? If the brakes felt fine on the way and malfunctioned on the trip back, you should be able to narrow it down. First thing I'd do is check the seven way. Like someone else said, maybe you bent a pin or got some moisture or sand in there. I'd start by cleaning your plug connections real good and then go from there.....
