As we were about to leave Steamboat Rock State Park on Banks Lake in Eastern Washington, I noticed something shiny in front of the driver side rear wheels. Someone had placed a tall beer bottle vertically between the dual tires. I can't imagine what that might have done if I had driven forward and crushed or wedged the bottle between the tires.We had spent 3 nights camped on a quiet loop with young families including our son's family, his wife's parents and other friends of theirs. There was no one in that group who could have possibly done this. We never saw anyone in the area who we could possibly link to this.Our MH was the most visible upscale RV among truck campers, 5th wheels, and older motorhomes. This State Park takes on a different character later in the summer with lots of ski boats, jets skis, and a younger crowd, with lots of alcohol, but not this time of year.I talked to the CG Hosts and they could not imagine this happening, and were reporting it to the Park Rangers.I'm glad that I took a last look at the MH before I headed home.

Glad you noticed it. Doesn't seem like the kind of thing we need to worry about in the PNW. Thanks to your post though I'll probably be checking my tires from now on. One more thing to add to the list.

The only thing you can do is to chalk it up to experience.

You call that a Malicious Act ??Maybe 30 years ago but with the stuff that happens today I call that a mild joke at best..

We stopped to fuel and have lunch at a Flying J many, many years ago. Upon returning to the RV I did a quick walk around and luckily found that someone had pulled one of pins in our tow bar setup. I carry extras so it was just a matter of putting one back in but had I not done the walk around it could have had a muck worse ending. I suspect a trucker thought it would be really funny but it could have been on the evening news instead.

I always do a walk around and I suspect you will too now that this occurred.

I never heard of somebody doing that so I'll add that to my mental list of things to check.

Another good reason to do a walk around every time that you stop and are away from your vehicle. I don't think that you can be too safe. JMO

Maybe you've spent too much time in Las Vegas? Everyone that I've talked to has been horrified by this, this wasn't a potato stuffed in a tailpipe, or superglue in a door lock.

My wife's car was hit by a softball sized rock launched from between the duals of a dump truck this year. Another 3 inches higher and it would have come through the windshield directed at her head. Positioning a beer bottle to fit between dual tires was more sophisticated than merely placing it under a single tire.

I too do a walk around every time I stop. Never move an inch until I have done my walk.

While doing a walk around several years ago, I found that some but head had thrown a handful of roofing nails under my tires while I was in a store.

Bill, we had a similar experience but I found out it was probably my fault. When we first started towing, I put a bungie cord connecting one locking pin across to the other through the loop of the locking pin.

At one stop, I noticed it was missing thinking someone pulled the pin. Bought a new pin setting it up the same way and eventually lost that pin too. Then I figured it out. The bungie cord must have put pressure on the ring causing it to flip open and fall out. The locking arm of the tow never came off because of the pressure from the tow-bar arm (thank goodness).

Now, I leave the pins alone and never had one pop out.

To the OP, I will now be more aware walking around motorhome. I never thought about someone putting something between the tires. Some people are just nuts.
